Breaking The Rules — For Once, You’re Allowed

My short novella BREAKING THE RULES is available in ebook format now! This novella was originally published by Love Spell in 2003 in the HEAT WAVE anthology. Isn’t the new cover great?! When Claire Mulligan’s fiancé decides they should become contestants on the popular reality show Eden to win money to save their failing business, she reluctantly agrees. But once filming starts, James seems more interested in the other female contestants than her.

After an impulsive attempt to draw his attention, Claire finds herself naked on the beach during a total island blackout. But instead of James, cameraman Mitch Talbott comes to her rescue. He can’t see her; she can’t see him. But the sparks they generate light up the night.

When morning comes and Claire has disappeared, Mitch decides it’s worth breaking the rules to find his mysterious sea maiden. But will he be able to convince Claire to forget about James and take a risk on him?

And The Winner Is…

Thanks to all of you who offered your opinions on the two book cover choices for my non-fiction book Happiness Rehab: 8 Creative Steps to a More Joyful Life. My co-author, Mary Schramski, and I read all of your responses and after a lot of thought, we’ve decided on the cover with the feet on the beach! We will be having some small adjustments made to the image. I’ll make sure to post the final version when the book is available to purchase!

Opinions, Please!

I’ve been at work on something a bit different — a non-fiction book instead of a novel. I’m writing it with a co-author, the wise and multi-talented Mary Schramski. And we’re going to self-publish it. The book is called HAPPINESS REHAB: 8 Creative Steps to a More Joyful Life and in it we discuss the connection between happiness and creativity and attempt to help readers find more balance in their lives through tapping into their natural creative instincts. It is constructed like a workshop, with lots of fun and revealing exercises.

We need your help! We’re considering a couple of different covers for the book, and we like them both so much that we’re having a difficult time choosing between the two. I’m posting them here and I’d love you to vote on the one you like best. Choose the one that catches your eye the most, the one you’d be most inclined to pick up in a bookstore to see what it’s about. Welcome!

Welcome to my new home on the web! I hope you like the look and style as much as I do.  I’m planning on making a lot more changes in the weeks ahead, but wanted to get up and running as soon as possible because there’s a lot going on in my writing world that I wanted to share.

First, my early romance novels are being re-released by Samhain Publishing in ebook format with new covers! Check out the latest ebook releases of BODY AND SOUL and ONCE UPON A DREAM on the Adult Fiction page. My novella, BLAME IT ON THE BABY, is next up – scheduled for release in July. I’ll post the cover soon.

Second, my editor at HarperTeen sent the intriguing and scrumptiously gorgeous cover for my next novel, THE SHADOW GIRL! I’m not sure if I can wait until April, 2013 for the book’s release.

And finally, I’m hard at work on a non-fiction book about the happiness/creativity connection called HAPPINESS REHAB: 8 CREATIVE STEPS TO A MORE JOYFUL LIFE that I’m co-writing with my friend, author Mary Schramski, PhD. It’s been a fun and interesting experience. I’ll tell you more about it in the weeks and months ahead.
